Warriors’ Path Park and Friends of Warriors’ Path State Park is again joining hands with different organizations and individuals (churches, businesses, civic clubs, youth groups, individuals, etc.) to host a “VOLUNTEER” Work Day – Saturday, March 28th
This volunteer day is part of a much larger restoration initiative.
(Park staff will be removing an obsolete tennis court, creating a vibrant pollinator garden, planting native trees and revitalizing historic picnic areas and creating new ones.),
These improvements will help us uphold the high standard of care we strive for in Tennessee State Parks and ensure Duck Island remans a beautiful, sustainable space for generations to come. This effort is an important step in restoring native biodiversity and creating a healthier ecosystem for wildlife and visitors
WORK DATE: Sat. March 28th, 2016
8:30am – 12pm (or as long as you can stay)
g Light Breakfast, Refreshments & Bottled Water provided for volunteers
Just some of the projects we will attempt to do:
1) Dig up and remove invasive plants an undergrowth weeds that threaten the island’s
natural habitat
2) Placing hay on new topsoil where grass seed has been placed
3) Pressure wash neighboring historic picnic tables and landings

REMEMBER!
a) WEAR WORK GLOVES to protect hands and as an added safety measure
b) SAFETY GLASSES are also strongly recommended.
c) WEAR OLD CLOTHES, DRESS IN LAYERS, as will be cool in the morning
d) Not required, if have heavy duty rake and/or wheel barrel you can bring – please do Put tape with name on each.
e) All other tools will be provided
