Keep Johnson City Beautiful, in partnership with the Young Professionals of Johnson City, ETSU Department of Sustainability, Volunteer ETSU, Visit Johnson City, and Meet the Mountains Festival, is thrilled to host the 3rd Annual Johnson City Beautification Day!

Mark your calendars for this impactful community-wide service event where volunteers come together to beautify and enhance the spaces we all cherish. Everyone is welcome to join in and make a meaningful difference in our community.

All participants will receive a t-shirt at check-in and a free lunch will be provided following the service.

Service will begin and end at the Johnson City Farmer's Market Pavilion.

Dino Egg Hunt has been an annual, all ages event for many years. Each year we see about 1,000 who attend the event. This year it will be on Friday April 3rd from 9am - 12pm. We will have multiple stations set up around the museum with activities. There is also a room where you can search for candy in our "dino egg hunt". 

Volunteers would be asked to help decorate prior to event and during the event, you will be at a station helping the activity go smoothly and other various tasks. Be prepared to have fun!

Organize donations, clothes, and house supplies, stock shelves, do laundry, clean, and a BUNCH of other behind-the-scenes love that keeps the house running smoothly. This team turn "ordinary" tasks into extraordinary comfort for a kiddo. 

Prepare the host guests in the home and welcome then in the Red Door, being present in the house with children on removal day. Play games, make food, pack bags, hang out, comfort, and remind them "You're safe here. You matter. Love, you're not alone."

The MOW locations at First Presbyterian in downtown Kingsport and at Waverly Road Presbyterian churches are in need of drivers to deliver meals.

Volunteer cooks are needed for Meals on Wheels!  Volunteers arrive at 8:00 am to cook, fill containers and clean up. A shift usually takes 2 to 3 hours once a month at either Waverly Road or First Presbyterian churches.  While most cooks continue to volunteer with us for many years, new cooks should commit to at least a year (12 two hour shifts total).  Since we all have conflicts from time to time, finding a sub or a swap is easy.  Easy menus and training are available.  We hope you'll join us!

Each new Meals on Wheels recipient receives a home visit from a volunteer nurse.  The nurse meets with the recipient, assesses needs, and provides feedback on the location of the home and conditions of which our delivery volunteers should be aware.  Training is provided.  Volunteers are not required to be RNs.  Please join us!

The Literacy Council of Kingsport is looking for Homework Help Tutors to support K–5th grade students at Girls, Inc. of Kingsport. Volunteers will assist children with homework in a variety of subjects in a structured, after-school setting.

Our tutors help adult learners improve their English language skills or gain basic literacy and math skills needed for everyday life, employment, and independence. With over 10 ESL students and numerous ABE students currently waiting for tutors, your time and effort could have a life-changing impact.

Work one-on-one with an adult learner to build skills in reading, writing, speaking, or math.

Caris Healthcare is seeking passionate people to support hospice patients in the tri cities area. We have needs in all areas for compassionate, reliable volunteers and would love to sit down to discuss how hospice volunteering fits with your passion and desire to help others. 

Patients live in private homes and nursing facilities. Activities include visiting with patients to provide support and companionship through conversation and a presence, engage in activities such as reading to the patient or helping write cards, provide a few hours of respite for a caregiver to get out of the home, and other activities that support a patient at the end-of-life. Flexible schedule, 2 hours per week. 

No hands on care such as lifting, transferring, bathing, feeding etc is provided by hospice volunteers.  Hospice volunteers describe their work as gratifying, intellectually stimulating, and emotionally meaningful. Caris Healthcare values their volunteers greatly & support them through their volunteering journey.

Mountain Region Speech and Hearing Center serves children through adults with speech, language, hearing and swallowing disorders.  We are a nonprofit organization.  Our Board meets monthly to guide the Center in its mission.  We need to add a couple of board members. You have what it takes to be a VITA volunteer in Kingsport or Blountville!

The Kingsport VITA program is operating two sites this year.  Our first site is in the V.O. Dobbins Community Center located at 285 Louis Street in Kingsport.  We operate this site as a drop-off site.  We do intake by appointment on Mondays from 4:00PM to 7PM.  On Tuesdays from 9:00AM to around 3:00PM we prepare the income tax returns from the batch of drop-offs on Monday (we provide lunch on-site for the tax preparers).  Then on Thursday evening from 4:00PM to 7PM we review the completed tax returns with the clients.  At this site the greatest need is tax preparers, although if your people could help with the intake interviews, this could allow our tax preparers to work on tax returns during the intake sessions.

The second site is in the Sullivan County Public Library - Blountville Branch (1655 Blountville Boulevard in Blountville, TN).  This is also a drop-off site format.  This location offers flexible options for volunteers to help perform tax returns.  

Also, if doing taxes is not your "thing", we have a need for intake specialists at both locations. This includes signing people in, making copies of key information, and providing general directions. (No tax knowledge necessary).

Providing a Link for Survivors (PALS) is actively seeking volunteers across our service area.  Can you be a friend?  Then you can be a PAL!  Volunteers are simply asked to make a weekly contact with their assigned brain injury survivor and then engage in a monthly get-together or community outing.  It's easy...just be a friend!

Bristol Regional Speech and Hearing Center operates Bingo on Saturday and Sunday each weekend.  It provides income to off-set the expenses of running a not -for-profit speech and hearing center.  

We need volunteers to assist with running this event.  The location is 238 Euclid Avenue, Bristol, VA  24201.  Doors open at 3:00 p.m. and sessions begin at 5:00p.m.  Volunteers should plan on arriving around 3:00 and will be free to leave around 8:00.  It is an exciting and fun place to volunteer!

The Miracle League removes the barriers that keep children and adults with mental and physical disabilities off the baseball field and lets them experience the joy of America’s favorite pastime. Since the main barriers for the participants arise from the natural grass fields used in conventional leagues, Miracle League teams play on a custom-designed, rubberized turf field that accommodates wheelchairs and other assertive devices while helping to prevent injuries. But it’s more than playing a game. The Miracle League is about making new friends, building self-esteem and being treated just like other athletes. To help the athletes, the Miracle League uses a “buddy” system – pairing each player with an able-bodied peer. The result is a bond that cannot be described. The Miracle League serves children and adults who suffer from any physical or mental disabilities, which causes them to be excluded, whether intentionally or not, from conventional Baseball leagues.

Scheduling: Games will begin the week of April 11th - May 16th, We will be hosting a baseball opening day for all of your participants on April 18th at Domtar Park.   Games will be scheduled every Saturday at 10am ages 17 and under and 11am ages 18 and above

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a youth mentoring agency. We are looking for caring community members that would like to make a real difference in the life of a child in our region who is in need of a friend. 

Every first Sunday of the month, we welcome new and experienced volunteers to join us as we spend Sunday serving this school with their monthly landscaping need.  Tools and gloves are on the site.  Bring your water and a snack.  The building will be locked, but the tool shed will be accessible and there will be a leader to help direct you.  Please RSVP so we can make sure to be ready for you.

Carter County has several locations where debris from Hurricane Helene still needs to be cleaned up and removed.  This includes stump removal, tree and limbs, etc.  There are also larger debris removal requiring chainsaws.  These are projects that would be great for groups that have a day or half a day to volunteer. 

Help keep the residents of Greene County warm during the winter months. Volunteers haul, cut, and split wood between Monday through Saturday at the corner of North Rufe Taylor Rd and Old Stage Rd and deliver on Saturdays and throughout the week.

We have several locations where damage from Hurricane Helene flooding deposited large piles of downed trees on the property of private homeowners. We need volunteers who would love to contribute to Cocke County's rebuilding efforts through landscaping service.

This would include the following:

Utilizing axes, chainsaws and other power tools to deconstruct deadfall

processing deadfall into manageable firewood

Weed eating

Planting flowers or working in the garden

Trimming Bushes

Rebuilding or reshaping garden beds

Raking

Moving landscaping supplies around a property 

Painting of walls, ceilings, and baseboards.

New and/or replace plumbing in New Home or Remodel of storm damaged home for survivor families.

Final cleaning of new/remodeled home for flood survivors.

We will be serving BBQ sandwiches and coleslaw, cookies etc. we will need help with any of the following: serving onto plates or to go containers, clearing tables and general duties like that. 

Installation of new or the replacement of electrical wiring, breakers, switches, and fixtures in new home construction or remodel.

Service opportunity in Lynn Garden preparing and distributing food and clothing to the Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia Communities. 

Tasks include sorting and hanging clothing, packaging food items, and building community relations.

Volunteers with Road To Recovery use their personal vehicle to drive patients with limited or no transportation to cancer-related treatment appointments.

RISE provides free period products and free barrier methods of STI and pregnancy prevention. This volunteer would come in to RISE 1-2 times a month to prep care packages for individuals and organizations that RISE serves. They would also be responsible for letting the director know if the supplies are running low.

Description: Join our dedicated team of Meals on Wheels volunteers who deliver nutritious meals to homebound seniors across the eight counties of Northeast Tennessee: Carter, Greene, Johnson, Hancock, Hawkins, Sullivan, Unicoi, and Washington. As a meal delivery volunteer, you'll provide more than just food; you'll also offer a friendly face and a caring connection that brightens the day of those who may be isolated.

Commitment: Flexible; volunteers can choose to help as often as they like, whether it's once a week, once a month, or whenever their schedule allows. Delivery routes typically take about an hour and occur between 8 AM and 12 PM, Monday through Friday. You can select a route close to your home or work, making it convenient for you to participate.
