Volunteer: Tax Volunteers (January-April 2026)Can you prepare your own taxes? You have what it takes to be a VITA volunteer in Kingsport or Sullivan County! The Kingsport VITA program is operating two sites this year. Our first site is in the V.O. Dobbins Community Center located at 285 Louis Street in Kingsport. We operate this site as a drop-off site. We do intake by appointment on Mondays from 4:00PM to 7PM. On Tuesdays from 9:00AM to around 3:00PM we prepare the income tax returns from the batch of drop-offs on Monday (we provide lunch on-site for the tax preparers). Then on Thursday evening from 4:00PM to 7PM we review the completed tax returns with the clients. At this site the greatest need is tax preparers, although if your people could help with the intake interviews, this could allow our tax preparers to work on tax returns during the intake sessions. The second site is in the Sullivan County Public Library - Blountville Branch. It is at 1655 Blountville Blvd. in Blountville, TN. This is also a drop-off site format. This location does Intake Interviews on Tuesday mornings from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and on Friday afternoons from 4:00PM to 6:30PM. They also do completed tax return reviews with the clients from the previous week during these same times. Here, also, our greatest need is for tax preparers. However we also have a need for and intake specialist on Tuesdays. CONTACT BECCA at 423-378-3409 x130 to learn how to be a VITA volunteer!!! Volunteer: Be a Fall Miracle League BuddyMiracle League of Kingsport – a baseball league that serves all athletes with disabilities and special needs. The Miracle League removes the barriers that keep children and adults with mental and physical disabilities off the baseball field and lets them experience the joy of America’s favorite pastime. Miracle League teams play on a custom-designed, rubberized turf that accommodates wheelchairs and other assertive devices while helping to prevent injuries. To help the athletes, the Miracle League uses a “buddy” system – pairing each player with an able-bodied peer. The result is a bond that cannot be described. Kingsport Parks and Rec Spring Miracle League will run August 23rd- October 4th (no games August 30). Buddies can volunteer from 1-3 hours between 10am-1pm. Most Buddies are high school and
above age. Sign in each Saturday at the check-in table. No
baseball knowledge. Buddies will help participants with hitting, running or
pushing a wheelchair, hanging out with them in the field. It very social and
noncompetitive and we just try and have fun! Contact Renee Ensor at 423-224-2489 or ReneeEnsor@KingsportTN.gov for more information.

Volunteer: We need you! Deliver a hot meal to homebound seniors with Meals on WheelsRemember not so long ago when everyone, except for essential workers, were stuck at home? What if that never ended for you. What if you were not able to get out of the home or to even cook your own meal? What if you had little to no family around and there you are unable to get out with others. You can make a difference in people's lives. You can take an hour out of your day to make a world of difference to someone homebound. Countless times we hear from recipients how they would not have a meal if it was not for volunteers bringing a meal to their door. Sometimes, the visit is also a welfare check; making sure that person is okay. You may brighten a person's whole day just by chatting with them for a few minutes. Won't you take a couple of hours out of your day to make a lifetime of difference to someone in need? Pandora- 423-461-8221
