The work is on streambank stabilization and soil reclamation that helps farmers and landowners affected by hurricane Helene. The Weekend Warrior is for anyone who wants to join us for a day or so. Volunteers will get in the dirt - digging holes, doing minor hand grading, planting trees and livestakes and spreading mulch, straw and grass seed. Install underpinning (skirting) on a double-wide mobile home and lay down plastic sheeting underneath the home for moisture control

Parenting a child with special needs can be both rewarding and overwhelming—and every parent deserves a chance to rest, connect, and learn in a supportive space. Appalachian Banner Academy is creating a program that provides childcare during our special needs parenting groups, so parents can focus fully on the resources, discussions, and encouragement being offered.

We’re looking for caring, patient individuals to help make this possible. During these sessions, you’ll spend time with amazing kids of all abilities in a safe, fun, and nurturing environment. The role isn’t about therapy or instruction—it’s simply about playing, engaging, and building positive connections through activities like games, crafts, or reading.

Your presence helps give parents something priceless: peace of mind and the freedom to learn, share, and recharge. By offering your time, you’ll make a direct impact on families who need support more than ever—and help us strengthen our community of love, understanding, and inclusion.

Painting of walls, ceilings, and baseboards.

Foster Closet sorting & organizing.  Sorting clothes, shoes, hygiene items & other essentials.  

New and/or replace plumbing in New Home or Remodel of storm damaged home for survivor families.

Final cleaning of new/remodeled home for flood survivors.

We will have a booth set up during the parade and we will be selling hot chocolate and maybe some merchandise (usually tee shirts). 5pm set up. Parade is 6pm until parade over (9:00?)

Assist with sorting, organizing, decorating and setting up for the Appalachia Christmas Event hosted at Unicoi Christian Church.

This event is coordinated by HNDS & FT, Appalachian United Imitative & Unicoi Christian Church.

Assist with sorting, organizing, decorating and setting up for the Appalachia Christmas Event hosted at Unicoi Christian Church.  We will be serving 114 families with a total of 300 children.  This event is centered on giving others, spreading Christmas cheer and sharing the love of Christ. 

There will be several activities taking place: caregivers being assisted by Santa's helpers to "shop" for their children, children visiting Santa, children completing a Christmas craft & there will be treats!
