CFRS Meals on Wheels, Inc. (MOW) was formed on July 26, 1982 by members of Bethany Presbyterian Church and has grown to include involvement by members of many area churches and citizens at large. Our service area includes the communities of Colonial Heights, Fordtown, Rock Springs, Sullivan Gardens and recently annexed areas of the City of Kingsport. Nutritious meals are prepared Monday through Friday at the state licensed kitchen in Colonial Heights Baptist Church. The population served consists of disabled, elderly persons who are not capable of preparing meals for themselves. The number of meals varied between 60 and 70, delivered by volunteer drivers divided into five routes, each of which is managed by a route captain. We currently have approximately 120 volunteers that deliver meals, help cook in the kitchen, serve on the Board of Directors and committees, and provide administrative support. There is one former army cook who cooks, orders food and supplies, and schedules/trains kitchen workers.
Safely prepare, package, and distribute nutritional meals to elderly and disabled recipients. Includes cooking and cleaning utensils and other kitchen equipment.
